Dolomiti d’Ampezzo Natural Park is located in the Veneto region of northern Italy, covering part of the Ampezzo valley and surrounding areas within the Dolomite mountain range, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The park is characterized by towering limestone cliffs, deep valleys, alpine meadows, and glacial cirques, making it a key destination for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts. Its geology features some of the most distinctive dolomite rock formations, shaped over millions of years through tectonic movements and erosion. Ecologically, the park supports a diverse array of flora and fauna, including protected species such as the Golden Eagle, Alpine ibex, and various rare alpine plants.

Historically, the park region has been a center of alpine culture and mountain traditions, attracting visitors since the 19th century. Outdoor recreation is abundant, with well-marked trails spanning valleys and high ridges, making it ideal for day hikes and multi-day trekking. The park also offers excellent rock climbing routes, winter sports like cross-country and downhill skiing, and opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography. Notable landmarks include the Croda da Lago massif, the Nuvolau peak, and Lake Federa, which provide stunning panoramas and challenging terrain.
